Skiing, boarding and sledging

Based on long-term skiing experience and experience gathered from numerous rescue missions, mountain rescuers are giving you the following advices:

Before each season (by yourself, if you can or in a professional repair shop)
• Fix your skis or board – repair the sliding surface and sharpen the edges
• Check the binding and lubricate them
• Maintain or enhance your physical condition.

Prior to any activity, warm up and than start skiing or boarding.
Sledging is a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, at the moment, there are not enough arranged sledging trails. Often, skiers and people on sledges interfere with one another which is particularly dangerous and can be the cause of many accidents and heavy crashes. Therefore it is necessary:
• To respect the signs banding sledging on skiing
• Sledge on places designed for this purpose
• Pay special attention to young and small skiers skiing in front of you because they can make a sudden turn making the collision inevitable
• Avoid downhill on sledges to the foot of the mountain because trails are often narrow, covered with ice and full of hikers.
